Not impressed with book, sorry that I purchased.

Boring

I got so much out of this after reading it through Kindle Unlimited that I bought a copy. I could also see where it won't be to everyone's taste. Cox gives a healthy dose of background history with the recipes. It's fascinating stuff. Who knew there was a connection between slavery and maple syrup? Then each section gives at least a couple different versions of the recipes. The historic recipes have not been translated into the precision that we are used to in modern recipes. Be prepared to to deal with instructions like " a pinch of pepper" or "add enough flour enough to make a still crust." There are some modern style recipes, too. I like that he included savory pies as well of the sweet ones we usually think of now. Even the sweet pies are not what you'd usually find. I'd never even heard of maple cream pie before seeing it in this book.
