I recently obtained my CCNA with the help of this book and Tood Lammle himself. If you bought the digital Kindle version, email Todd and he'll send you his Packet Tracer labs. These labs demand a lot from the student, while providing in-depth configuration troubleshooting challenges. I was more than prepared for my exam. I initially started my studies with Cisco's publication, however made the change to this book. Todd's book reads like a magazine, making studying the material sort of fun and not a chore. The other books seemed too dry and winded.

This is a great little book to pick up and do a little refreshing of the old noodle. Each technology has its own little summary section which is very helpful (unlike the official Cisco Press Portable command guide which is just straight command routines). As usual Todd has added his own little insights and factoids to keep things interesting and fun.I own this book and the cisco press command guide. I recommend them both, and cross reference for better clarification on command routines. They are both worth their weight in gold unless you enjoy hitting the ? key all day....

I wanted a quick reference guide that was complete enough to actually program routers and switches ... not theory. 90% of the time I have a question, I can get it answered from this book in less than a minute. So, five stars from me.No guide will be perfect for everyone. This is not a textbook and not for learning. Great lightweight reference and for review of a topic. Good style and clean layout, but not exciting. The Index in the back of the book WORKS.

I have found this book to be a very good reference for the IOS commands while preparing for my CCNA, but that is what i have come to expect from Cisco books written by Todd Lammle. the book goes through a good amount of commands, gives you the syntax and the output you should receive. This has become something i keep on my desk in case i am in need of a reference.If you are working towards your CCNA this is a great book to have, it goes a bit more in depth then the other IOS command reference guides you might find. if you team this up with a good CCNA book, and some experience on ether lab equipment or on packet tracer you should have no problem passing the exam.

Really helped me learn hands on the CLI on the Cisco IOS on my Cisco 1841 router. Defntely a great hands on book to have with your router and practice. Todd explains material clear and the router config examples are great. There are some typos that's why I took a star off (Could confuse some). Bottom line this is a great book to learn how to configure routers. Gave me that push I needed. I'm pretty good now on a router thanks to this book. Thanks again Todd Lammle this book really helped me get over the hump of learning Cisco routers and really getting that hands on experience.

Not that useful, its been difficult to find what I am looking for in this book.

Lammle's stated objective is to help the reader prepare for and pass the difficult CCNA exam. This book expands a bit on that objective. He states in the introduction that this is supplementary material. It's written to assist the student in understanding the line of thought behind the technology. I found that quite useful. The CCNA is a rigorous exam; those who pass it have a pretty good understanding of the concepts and protocols. But "real world" practice is a trickier thing, especially NAT, and Lammle's book concisely tackles those issues of keeping a network running. He clearly discusses the "why". I'm keeping the book on my desk as a reference work beyond just exam prep. It's money well-spent.

Working with mostly with Nortel -Avaya based networks before this book . This book helped me make the change into the Cisco world of networks CLI commands. This is a good book to keep around to use for every day use. The book was very helpful to cross over to the Cisco support model . This book would also work well for new network engineers use also . Pro : Based on price it was worth the cost . Con : You will still need to find the commands in the book you will need. It was a good book to add to my book shelf .
